Incredibly Powerful

Dear NRHC Family,

What a great reminder from Stephen Splawn this past Sunday about the necessity for and importance of prayer. When it comes to prayer, one of the key questions we have to ask ourselves is, "Why do we pray?" We don't pray in an effort to use God or to try to coerce God into giving us what we want. We pray as worship - to commune with the God of the universe in order to know Him better and align our hearts and lives with Him. I know, for me, I have to repeatedly ask myself this question and constantly realign my heart in this area.

One of the best ways I've found to do this is to pray through Scripture. My favorite passage to pray through in the Bible is Colossians 1:9-20. Verses 9-14 are a great way for us to seek God's will in all that we do and depend on God to do what only He can do. Verses 15-20 focus our hearts and minds on a deeper and more accurate picture of who God is and, in response, we praise and worship Him. Take a few minutes this week to read this passage and pray through it verse by verse. It's incredibly powerful!

We hope to see you this Sunday as we continue on in our Discipline and Delight teaching series!

One Life at a Time,
Andrew
