The Countdown to Christmas

Dear NRHC Family,

The countdown to Christmas is almost over! Over the past few weeks, we've been in the midst of a teaching series called The Unexpected King--we've been exploring the unexpected nature in which Jesus came to rescue and redeem man as Emmanuel, God with us. If you've missed any of these messages, they can all be found here. We're excited for this series and the Advent season to culminate this Sunday with our Christmas Eve services at 8:30 am, 9:45 am, and 11:00 am.

I want to encourage each of you, along with myself, to take time to prepare for the coming days. Yes, you may have some last minute shopping, cooking, or a holiday gathering. However, let's take some intentional time to prepare our hearts for the true meaning of Christmas. You can do this during your time in the Word throughout the week or maybe just as you're in the car going around town. Regardless, let's reflect on the good news of the Gospel and the role that Christmas plays in the greater redemption story of the Gospel. Think through why Jesus came and the importance of how He came. Ponder in amazement what God has done in sending Jesus for broken and sinful people like you and me. Confess your need for Christ and thank God that He didn't leave us on our own without hope.

As you think and pray through these things personally and for your family, also pray for our Christmas Eve services. People far from Christ and not connected to the local church are open, and often eager, to come to church on Christmas Eve. Let's invite those we know and those we've been investing in, and let's pray that God would use the worship of Jesus and the clear preaching of the gospel to draw people to follow Jesus.

We can't wait to see you this Sunday. Merry Christmas, NRHC!

One Life at a Time,
Andrew
