The Loved Bible Project
Mondays • June 26, July 10, and July 24 • 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Ladies, join us this summer as we make a Loved Bible, a tool designed to help ordinary people make disciples through the use of the God's Word. In the first part of the evening we'll go over how to make a Loved Bible and then we'll spend the rest of the time working on our Bibles. This means there's lots of time to for connection and conversation as we work. We'll also have some desserts and such to keep us going!
Check out the FAQ's below to get a better understanding.
Imagine a Bible customized with notes, highlights, prayers, and words of encouragement that are written just for you and your situation. This is what we are going to make. The project is meant to be a tool of transformation and discipleship for anyone God has put in your life. He or she may be a colleague under the weight of pressure at work, a suffering friend, an acquaintance struggling with family relationships, an elderly neighbor, a classmate celebrating new life, a mom in the trenches, a lonely teen. The Loved Bible Project has become a tool to better love and come alongside one another, equipping people to see the God of the Bible in all seasons of life. To begin, all you need is an expectant heart, asking God to show Himself to you through the gift of His Word.
We'll use simple supplies - highlighters, sticky notes, paper, and pens. We'll provide you with a booklet that will help guide you in what scriptures, prayers, and encouragement to use in each situation.
The goal of a Loved Bible is NOT to be artsy, but to apply the Bible to life and help others navigate Scripture. No artistict talent, crafty gene, or creative bent is needed!
All you need to bring is a pair of scissors and a Bible that's not been written in. If you don't have a Bible to use, you can purchase one at the event. Be sure to let us know you need one on the registration form, so that we order enough.
It will probably take you all three nights to finish your Loved Bible. But if you can only come once or twice, come. Since no special supplies are needed you can always finish on your own (or better yet, finish with a friend or two).
It's a very cool story invovling a bridge, people in need of the Lord, and a composting toilet. Intrigued? Check out the story here.
