Sermon Series

1 Timothy

When I was a kid, some friends and I had a dream of building the “best treehouse ever”.  We had all the supplies we needed.  We had raided construction site dumpsters and our fathers’ garages for weeks.  We had the lumber, the tools, and a great idea.  For weeks we climbed into that set of 5 trees and built and tested and added more!

The Discipline of Dependence

There is something about the start of a new year that has us dreaming and planning for what could be different this go around. But the truth is the vast percentage of New Year’s resolutions fail within the first three months. The reason?

I Am

The Gate. The Vine. The Light of the World. The Good Shepherd. The Way, the Truth, and the Life.

How does a group accomplish a common goal? Well, they must know where they are going-a direction must be set.

Our world is constantly bombarded with difficult situations, broken relationships, conflict, and suffering. Habakkuk knows this all too well. He cries out, “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you, “Violence!” and you will not save?” Habakkuk is overwhelmed and confused by the chaos around him. Sound familiar?

What do you think of when you hear the word “family”? Is it an endearing word that elicits good memories and traditions? Does it bring resentment, regrets, and lists of things you wish were different? Do you think siblings? Parents?  Step families? Custody arrangements? Grandpas? Adoption? Singleness? Marriages? Divorces? One thing is for sure, whether we love our families or wish we could trade them in for a new one…we all have one!

You’ve heard the stories before - the forbidden fruit, the talking snake, a catastrophic flood, promises of a great nation, a coat of many colors…

You Have ONE Job

My daughter went to prom recently.  During the weeks leading up to prom, there were signs all over the school advertising the sale of Prom Tickets and announcing the theme of this year’s event. One sign proudly read, “Ticets on sale” and then at the bottom, "Redeem at Interance”.  My reaction to these sorts of this is always, “Come on; you had ONE JOB!”
