I Am

The Gate. The Vine. The Light of the World. The Good Shepherd. The Way, the Truth, and the Life.

These are statements that Jesus made about Himself. In our new series, I AM, we will examine seven of these statements from the Gospel of John. The Gospel of John is unlike the other gospels. John makes no attempt to cover the entire life and ministry of Jesus. Instead, he focuses in on Jesus' ministry in the city of Jerusalem. John states the purpose of his letter is "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31).

John highlights seven I AM statements to reveal to his readers the identity of Christ as the Son of God. We will look at each of the statements and their implications for us as followers of Christ. Our goal is the same as John's - that we may believe and have life in His name!
