Lead Pastor Candidate

Dear Faith Family,

As we have narrowed our search for a Lead Pastor to one candidate, the next step in the process was for our Staff, D-group Leaders, and Ministry Team Leaders to meet the candidate and vote whether or not to affirm his candidacy. Last night we were able to host over 50 of these influential leaders in our faith family to meet the candidate and his wife, and to hear his story and philosophy of ministry.  According to our bylaws, a two-thirds affirmation vote is required to approve his candidacy, and I am happy to report that the affirmation vote was unanimous!

The result is that this Sunday, January 21, the candidate will be at NRHC preaching “in view of a call”.  This means that the teams and leaders that have interviewed, vetted, and met with him all affirm him as the preferred candidate to be our Lead Pastor, but the partners must approve those recommendations.  After each service this Sunday, our partners will cast that vote.

So who is the candidate?  His name is Chad Merrell.  Chad and his wife Tanisha currently reside in Louisiana and have 5 children.  Chad has been serving as a campus pastor of a large, multi-site church for the last 6 years. Chad’s life has been marked by the beautiful grace of the gospel around every turn and it just oozes out of him. He loves the local church, has a passion for multiplication, and longs to see people connected in community for the purpose of their growth and mission.  He is a gifted leader of leaders that has the unique ability to do so in great humility.  We are very excited about the potential of Chad and Tanisha joining NRHC and providing significant influence in our mission to to see our world changed by the gospel one life at a time.

Continue joining us in prayer as we seek God’s leadership for His church.  We want nothing more than God glorified and His name made famous in all that we do.  We are thankful for your engagement during this season of transition and are excited about what God has in store for us as a faith family.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Advisory Team at advisoryteam@northrockhill.com.

One Life at a Time,
